Men’s Health and Sexual Dysfunction

Sexual desire disorders or decreased libido are characterized by a lack or absence for some period of time of sexual desire or libido for sexual activity or of sexual fantasies. The condition ranges from a general lack of sexual desire to a lack of sexual desire for the current partner. The condition may have started after a period of normal sexual functioning or the person may always have had no/low sexual desire.

The causes vary considerably, but include a possible decrease in the production of normal estrogen in women or testosterone in both men and women. Other causes may be aging, fatigue, pregnancy, medications or psychiatric conditions, such as depression and anxiety. However, this is not a classification that would be found in any current medical text. While a number of causes for low sexual desire are often cited, only some of these have ever been the object of empirical research. Many rely entirely on the impressions of therapists.

Men’s Sexual Dysfunction
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is the inability for a man to maintain an erection long enough to complete sexual intercourse or to ejaculate. The condition was previously called impotence. By some estimates, as many as 18 million American men have erectile dysfunction. The problem is more common with older men, but not unknown in younger men. Erectile dysfunction may occur as the result of other medical problems, but often occurs as the result of events that occur in a man’s life that can be corrected rather easily. Practitioners of TCM recommend a number of methods for resolving problems of erectile dysfunction.

Premature ejaculation is the most common form of sexual dysfunction in men, though erectile dysfunction still remains most hyped and most acknowledged sexual problem in men. But in fact men suffer more from premature ejaculation than ED. Premature ejaculation originates due to nervousness in man as a result of performance consciousness in bed during sex. It is not specific to a certain age and can affect men of all ages. There could be several reasons behind this annoying condition such as problems associated with personal relations, work, money etc or feelings of anxiety, sorrow and depression. Many times a huge gap in sexual intercourse may also lead to premature ejaculation. Any injury or a medicine’s side effects can also be a cause behind it. In some cases it can be a vascular, thyroid, neurological or hormonal problem.
